I certainly believe in openness in government and I have complete confidence in Paul in this regard.

Subject: Paul Clanon as Deputy Executive Director of the Commission

Dear Mr. Stephen Larson:

A few members of staff expressed concerns about your designation of Paul Clanon as Deputy Executive Director of this Commission. My self as a staff here is appalled at this designation and I am representing myself as a Job Steward of CSEA. I am also sending this as Yaya Fanusie, Job Steward for the staff members who asked me to tell you that they do not feel Paul Clanon has the proper Fitness For that Office.
I have advised the members who approached me to represent them that they should also communicate directly to you their objections. Also, I informed them that I will take this matter up with the Governor’s office because I believe that you must be privy to information that was passed on to President Peevey when it was rumored Peevey and the Commissioner were going to appoint Paul Clanon as Executive Director of the Commission. He did not get it because you were selected.

Let me remind you that in all Governor Arnold Schwarzeneggar’s public statements he stressed that he wants open government. And we believe that also applies to management of at all levels of the State.

Thank you,
Yaya Fanusie, Job Steward-CSEA
